Multilingual Tournament “I SPEAK, YOU SPEAK – WE COMMUNICATE“

THE 13TH MULTILINGUAL TOURNAMENT “I SPEAK, YOU SPEAK – WE COMMUNICATE“ 2026

On Saturday, April 18th, the American International School of Vilnius (AISV) proudly hosted the 13th Multilingual Tournament of Lithuania, “I Speak, You Speak – We Communicate”. This dynamic national event brought together 15 teams from across Lithuania, representing cities from Vilnius, Kaunas, Panevėžys, to Šiauliai.

Students in Grades 9–12 demonstrated outstanding creativity, confidence, and linguistic proficiency across more than ten languages, including English, French, German, Spanish, Russian, Polish, Ukrainian, Italian, Belarusian, and Lithuanian. 

Commemorating the 100th anniversary of Lithuanian radio, this year’s tournament highlighted the enduring power of voice, storytelling, and communication. As part of their preparation, each team produced a one-minute radio segment titled “Atrask Lietuvą” (“Discover Lithuania”), showcasing a selected community in a language of their choice. These segments were presented to the audience, who evaluated them based on creativity, audience engagement, and the richness of the community representation.

Three teams were recognized with special awards generously provided by tournament partners:

• AISV Team 2 - Liepa and Aleks (G11), and Barbora (G9), and French teacher Ms. Jurgita Gerybienė – 1st place
• Šiaulių Romuvos gimnazija – 2nd place
• Panevėžio J. Miltinio gimnazija – 3rd place

The competition featured a diverse and engaging program, including impromptu speeches on contemporary topics, creative reinterpretations of fairy tales in participants’ native languages, multilingual storytelling chains, the production of social radio advertisements, and an interactive radio knowledge bowl.
