Math Meets Excellence: AISV Hosts CEESA MS Mathcounts 2026
The American International School of Vilnius (AISV) was proud to open its doors to the brightest young mathematicians from across the region for the CEESA Middle School Mathcounts Tournament on February 6-7, 2026.
Our Upper School campus, overlooking the beautiful landscape of Vilnius, transformed into a hub of logic, speed, and collaborative problem-solving. This year’s event brought together a diverse group of "Mathletes" from seven premier international schools, fostering a spirit of friendly competition and intellectual curiosity.

The Competition Rounds The Mathcounts format is designed to test various facets of mathematical ability, from individual grit to team synergy.
The participants faced four rigorous stages:
Sprint Round: 30 problems in 40 minutes, testing speed and accuracy without the use of calculators.
Target Round: Multi-step problems focusing on mathematical reasoning.
Team Round: A 20-minute session where collaboration is key to solving complex equations.
Countdown Round: The high-stakes finale where top individual scorers go head-to-head in a fast-paced oral competition.
Beyond the Numbers
While the competition was intense, the weekend was also about building connections. Between rounds, students shared meals, explored the AISV campus, and formed friendships that spanned borders from Cyprus to Finland.
We want to extend a huge thank you to our AISV staff, student volunteers, and the visiting coaches who made this event a success. Congratulations to all participants for their hard work and for proving that math is not just a subject, but a language that brings us all together.
Hosting an event like Mathcounts is a testament to the AISV mission: to Connect, Inspire, and Empower. Seeing these students approach difficult problems with such perseverance and open-mindedness is truly what the CEESA spirit is all about.
