Pre-School Programs (3-4 year olds)

Back
AISV offers a full day (8.30 am to 3.30 pm ) pre-school program for three and four-year-olds.
At AISV the curriculum focuses on the whole child and provides a foundation for a lifetime of learning. Our Pre-K classes offer a variety of activities, both teacher-planned and student-driven, in order to allow each student to experience success.  Children are guided and challenged to learn and grow through play, art, music, stories, drama, cooking, outdoor experiences, and exploring their environment.
We draw our learning outcomes for our youngest students from the following areas:
  • Approaches to learning

    • developing independence

    • initiative, curiosity, and creativity

    • social skills

  • Social and emotional development

    • building relationships with adults and peers

    • emotional functioning

    • community building

  • Language, communication and literacy

    • listening to understand

    • speaking

    • developing vocabulary and early literacy skills

  • Cognition, mathematics development, scientific reasoning

    • exploration and discovery through inquiry

    • emergent critical and mathematical thinking

  • Perceptual, motor and physical development

    • fine and gross motor skills

    • health and safety awareness and practice

As this is the first exposure to the English language for most of our Pre-K students, we strive to foster English language acquisition while encouraging the continued development of the student’s mother tongue.
To promote independence and create a positive transition from home to school we purposefully build a sense of community that includes families and other students and adults within the AISV community.  As a small school with a big heart, we provide a warm supportive environment for every child.
