French Drama Project

2021.02.05

Back in September 2020, a group of motivated AISV seniors who study IB French Language B, decided to get out of their comfort zone and stage a play performed entirely in French. With careful consideration, they have chosen Le Malade Imaginaire, an adaptation of the famous Molière piece, rewritten by Emanuelle delle Piane. The piece itself is taking place in modern day France. A wealthy but oblivious Argan is convinced that he is terribly sick. With the help of his brother, Beralde, and his maid, Toinette, he sets out to test the loyalty and honesty of his beloved wife and daughter by pretending to have passed away.
Despite the challenges faced due to COVID-19, the group of students kept rehearsing and had the honor to present the play to the author on Friday, January 22nd, online, followed by a discussion with the author, teachers and students in French.
