WELCOME FROM THE DIRECTOR

Welcome to the American International School of Vilnius!

My name is Robert Hinman, and I have been the director of AISV for the past four years. During this period of time, AISV has not only grown in the numbers of students at the school, but also in the quality and scope of the program offered as well.

 AISV has the great advantage of having a core of certified, overseas recruited staff who teach almost all main subject area classes. AISV has almost tripled the number of U.S. certified teachers over the past three years. AISV has more overseas hired staff than any school in Lithuania, and this reflects the school’s commitment to have a strong American presence in our school environment.

Another great advantage of AISV is the level of expertise and continuity brought to our school through our local staff. AISV is now in the 18^th year of operation, and we are very fortunate to have such a professional and talented local staff. This permits AISV to both benefit from our past knowledge, but also encourages interaction with our new overseas staff to improve the methods and ideas for the present and future of the school.

AISV is a fully accredited school. Accreditation means that all aspects of AISV’s program have been reviewed by two outside agencies - Council of International Schools (CIS) and the Middle States Association (MSA). AISV also works with the U. S. State Department and the Office of Overseas Schools. AISV works closely with the College Board, and is a SAT test center. Currently, AISV offers the AP program in the high school and is working on the steps needed to offer the IB Diploma program in the future as well.

Finally, AISV is working on the final details of a construction project to not only add facility space for our school, but also to add more land for AISV use. We are excited about the new opportunities that this will offer our students in the future.
