A Giving Tree Project

A Giving Tree Project

2016.01.28

AISV has been working with one of the local orphanages through the program “A Giving Tree” for the past 13 years. In 2015 we have provided presents for 46 orphans in Vilnius Orphanage of Antakalnis. The children‘s photos  and wishes were put on an ornament and hung on a tree at our school and the AISV families and staff selected one ornament and bought the gifts for that kid. “The orphanage kids are waiting for this AISV project most of all, because we are able to meet the individual wishes they have for this special holiday”, the CAS and Activities Coordinator Ms. Jolita stated. „Every  year, we not only get to give presents to them, but we take our students to the orphanage to give a concert and socialize with the children at the orphanage.“

„The visit to the orphanage is always a very heartwarming experience!” grade 10 student Laura said. Monday, December 14, grades 9 through 12 had the opportunity to personally meet the children whom the gifts were bought for. Many of the AISV students felt a relief by the many beautiful smiles we got from these children. “It felt so good to fulfill these children’s dreams and give them what they want for Christmas,” grade 10 student Benediktas said. Not only did this warm the hearts of the orphans and students, yet it has also brought joy to the givers. “If I have more than I need, I feel like it’s my responsibility to share with other people.”
