Grade 4 at National Philharmonic

2015.03.17

Last Friday 4th grade had a trip to the National Philharmonic.  When we arrived we saw students from many other schools around Vilnius.  The inside of the philharmonic looked like a palace with a big staircase, a wrap-around balcony, and three crystal-like glass chandeliers in the music hall.  The native Lithuanian speakers in our class helped translate all the talking about the instruments and music.  We learned about different symphony instruments and heard the sounds they make, including the trombone, tuba, and piccolo.  They played music from the opera Carmen and then, luckily, Alejandro was picked to play the cymbals during a song.  He claims the cymbals weighed about 7 kg each.  It was fun, exciting, and the music they played was gorgeous.
