A variety of activities were organized by the classroom teachers and the Librarian during the traditional annual AISV Book Week held on January 27th -31st.

Read-a-thon: Temperature Rising. Grades 1-4 set their reading goals at the start of the week and every day they measured how many minutes they read at home and at school.  On the final day of the AISV Book Week all classes met their goals and even exceeded.
Gr.1 goal was 4000 minutes, Gr.2 also 4000 minutes, Gr.3 - 5000 minutes, Gr.4 - 6000 minutes during one week. We congratulate all participants of the Read-a-thon!

Kindergarten was conducting an author study of Eric Carle and reading his books with their reading buddies all week. They read 13 books by this famous writer.

Teacher Book Quiz. A quiz “Who does this book belong to?” was offered to the school community. 15 teachers brought the books they were reading and put them on the window sill in the main school hallway. 16 students (Nedas Gr.3, Glori Gr.3, Alejandro Gr.3, Laura Gr.4, Atene Gr.4, Patricija Gr.7, Simona Eva Gr.7, Nastia Gr.8, Ugne Gr.8, Paulius Gr.8, Danielius Gr.9, Robertas Gr.9, Rokas Gr.10, Tomas Gr.10, Bernadeta Gr.11, Arturas Gr.12) and 2 teachers (Mr. Arunas & Mr. Van Dis) made right predictions and guessed whom those books belong to.

Visits and Guests

  • Grade 8 & 9 met a famous Lithuanian painter and book illustrator Sigutė Ach on January 29th, Wednesday at AISV. They were introduced to her creative work, workshops and daily life.
  • AP, IB Art Students took part in the workshop “Stories and People” in Sigute Ach’s studio to practice photography on January 29th, Wednesday. They created a story from twelve photographs about the person who is writing fairy tales.
  • Grade 4 Students took part in book making workshop on January 30th in the printing house (www.niekorimto.lt) by a famous Lithuanian illustrator Sigute Ach.

READ IN day was on January 31st, Friday in lower school. Everybody enjoyed their reading in pajamas!
