Welcome from the Director

Welcome from the Director

Welcome to the American International School of Vilnius! Our website will provide useful information to perspective and current AISV families, teachers exploring employment opportunities and anyone else interested in finding out more about our school. We are glad you found us and please contact us via telephone or e-mail so that we can answer any questions you may have. If you live in Vilnius, or plan on visiting in the future, please call to schedule an appointment to visit our campus and see the classrooms. Our school's energy is contagious and you will feel the excitement and joy that our students feel from being a part of such a wonderful school.

We are a growing school of approximately 195 students from more than 20 countries. Children of local families, the international business community and the diplomatic communities fill our classrooms. We have a dedicated and caring community of faculty, students and parents.

Vilnius is a beautiful historical Central European city built on the shores of the Neris River. There is a vibrant international community with many exciting events held throughout the year. The city allows for many opportunities to bring History and The Arts alive for our students and their families in museums, theatres, galleries and festivals.

Our language of instruction is in English and non-English speaking students are offered intensive English Language Learner classes and support from the day they enroll. We offer specialist instruction in Art, PE, French, German, Russian, Lithuanian, Music, and Computer Literacy, in addition to our core classroom instruction. Our curriculum is American and adapted to the needs of a diverse students population of ELL students. It can be viewed on the curriculum link. Our curriculum is continually reviewed to be sure that it meets the needs of our ever evolving student body. Our teachers are certified and experienced, with over two-thirds of them holding Master's Degrees in Education and Specialist fields. Our native English faculty is predominately from North America. We strive to build confident students with a firm academic foundation.

AISV is accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the Middle States Association (MSA); a member of European Council of Schools (ECIS), Association for the Advancement of International Education (AAIE) and Central European and European Schools Association (CEESA). Affiliation with these organizations allows us the opportunity to participate in international academic and cultural exchanges throughout Europe. Our school events in Vilnius include International Festival, Spring and Winter Concerts, Art Exhibitions, language competitions and drama presentations. Our calendar is overflowing with opportunities for our students to showcase their talents, explore new and exciting opportunities, stay athletically and physically active, build confidence and self esteem, sharpen and refine special academic skills or just come together with peers and strengthen friendships.

We accept children from Toddlerss (age 2) to grade 12. Our school year begins end of August and ends in mid June. We have breaks in fall, winter and spring. If you are considering enrollment for a new student we encourage you to contact us early in order to reserve a spot for next year or to inquire if there is space available in a classroom this year. Sometimes classes fill up and a waiting list is required.

As of 2010-2011 school year, AISV offers full high school - up to and including Grade 12 . We have been authorized to offer AP coursework  in addition to the other major subjects which are offered at any high school (Math, English, PE, Languages, etc.) In order to review how well we could serve your children, a current high school transcript of the coursework completed to date would be very helpful. If you require any further information about Gr. 11 and 12 program, please contact AISV Director director@aisvilnius.lt
