High School Diploma Requirements

 

AISV GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS:

For students to graduate with an Academic Diploma, the minimum requirements are 24 credits. A credit is earned for a full year course or an equivalent course spread out over multiple years. If courses are listed they are required and if courses are not listed than electives from the chart below can be chosen. English 6 credits (English I, English II, American Literature, British Literature, Research, and Technology), Mathematics 4 credits (Algebra I, Geometry), Science 4 credits (Physical Science, Biology), Social Studies 4 credits (Geography, World History, American History, World Government and Economics), Physical Education and Health 2.5 credits, Foreign Languages 2 credits of the same foreign language (or equivalent spoken ability in a language other than English), and Fine Arts 1.5 credits.

For students to graduate with an Academic Diploma with Honors they must complete all Academic Diploma requirements and complete 2 AP courses of his/her choice. The total number of credits does not need to exceed 24 because the AP courses are considered electives.

The Essential Diploma is available to students who experience English language deficiencies, time constraints or other problems which make it impractical to pursue a more advanced course of study. The basic minimum requirement is 20 credits. The courses listed here are required. To earn the total number of credits, the students can choose other courses listed below.  English 3 Units (Literature I, Literature II, and Technology), 3 Mathematics credits (Algebra, Geometry), Science 3 credits (Physical Science and Biology), Social Studies 3 credits (Geography and World History), Physical Education and Health 2.5 credits, Foreign Languages 2 credits, Fine Arts 1 credit, and two additional electives.
